Why we Chose Zinc

We chose Zinc because it’s the safest and most effective ingredient to use in a sunscreen formula. Zinc Oxide sits on top of the skin, scattering and reflecting UV Rays that cause skin cancer. When most people think zinc oxide, they think the surfer with the “white stuff” on his nose. Luckily there are products like ours with transparent Zinc Oxide, so it rubs in clear leaving no white residue. Zinc Oxide was originally used as an anti-inflammatory skin protect-ant, which makes it a good choice for people with sensitive skin,

What is Broad Spectrum

Broad spectrum refers to sunscreens that protect the skin from both UVA and UVB rays. They used to think UVB rays were the only rays that could cause harm. We now know UVA rays are the main cause of skin cancer, they account for about 95% percent of the rays that hit our skin. For a sunscreen to be labeled as broad spectrum, there are requirements for companies to go through rigorous tests to prove their products protect against both UVA and UVB rays. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with UVA and UVB protection. UVB rays are the main cause of sunburn. UVA rays also contribute to skin cancer and premature aging.

The truth about SPF

The SPF number tells you how long a person can be in the sun before burning. They say SPF 30 is roughly 300 minutes in the sun. Higher SPF products are only a little bit better at protecting you. SPF 30 blocks nearly 97% of UVB radiation whereas SPF 50 blocks about 98%. The truth is, high SPF sunscreens create a false sense of security. People who use them tend to stay out in the sun much longer and skip reapplying, causing worse damage to their skin. Most experts say SPF 30 is the perfect SPF.

This is my second bottle of Sunscreen that I have purchased. I live on a lake and my children and grandchildren come swimming and fishing several times a week – always forgetting to bring sunscreen – hence the two large bottles I have purchased! The zinc oxide in this formula works really well blocking all the burning factors of the sun and does not wash off easily, so remains effective for at least as long as the 80 min. it advertises! It also does not contain all the man made ingredients which historically have caused allergic reactions (rashes and itching) on the grandkids sensitive skin. i would recommend this sunscreen to anyone who spends a lot of time in the sun

My husband and I vacation in a remote part of Mexico for two weeks every year. Over the past several years i have developed a sensitivity to the sun that has made the vacation difficult. I have tried everything – but my hands, forearms, knees and thighs still break out in hives. I was having decent, but not great, coverage with sunscreen from CVS that includes Zinc Oxide. last summer I saw this product on-line and figured I would give it a try. IT WORKED! I still have to put it on religiously, but I was able to stay on the beach and read my book without trying to cover my body with clothing. It absorbs quickly and doesn’t stay sticky. I am back on-line to order more because we leave for our Mexico trip soon. I am bringing two bottles with me. I can’t recommend this highly enough.

I really like this product because it contains zinc oxide – which I read everywhere is one of best sun protectors. Which is does very nicely – and its easy to spread over large areas with no ghostly white color. Works for me.

I’m fair & was in sun (which I’m normally not) for hours and no redness. But, what’s really great is, although it’s effective like other zinc based products, it’s not heavy so you don’t get that ghostly look. Also, it spreads easily so easy to apply. I was really surprised how effective it is considering how much lighter it is than most zinc sun screen.

My son has a sensitivity to sunlight and this is the only sunscreen we’ve been able to find that works for him. With proper application he doesn’t even get pink whereas with the other sunscreens we’ve tried he has wound up with severe sunburn.. at one point it was second degree blistering. We will definitely buy this product again.
